CBD and Yoga: a combined approach to finding calm
Combining CBD and yoga may seem strange. Yet, they share many commonalities, starting with relaxation.
CBD users know this very well: one of its benefits is promoting relaxation. For yoga practitioners, relaxation is an integral part of the discipline. It is a tool that helps achieve harmony between body and mind.
Can CBD consumption help you find relaxation during yoga practice and allow you to find your balance? Let us explain!
Yoga and CBD in the early days of civilization
We talked about the many things that yoga and hemp have in common, their millennia-old use being one of them.
As you may know, yoga is a practice that stems from Indian philosophy, the earliest written records of which date back more than 5,000 years. This philosophy is based on a number of rules, precepts, and spiritual, mental, and physical practices organized into paths or schools. All are different, but all aim to liberate the soul from its karma, in checkout to end the cycles of reincarnation and reach Nirvana. Yoga is one of these paths.
CBD, on the other hand, is a molecule naturally secreted by hemp. This plant is likely one of the first domesticated by humankind. The earliest evidence found dates back to 26,900/24,000 BCE. Hemp was used to make rope. The first traces of its use in medicine date back to three millennia BCE. The Chinese scholar Shen Nong, also known as the "Great Diviner," recounts in his pharmacopoeia how the plant was used to treat malaria, rheumatism , and as a sedative.
A better quality of life thanks to yoga
The practice of yoga
In its quest for balance, yoga seeks to mobilize the physical, mental and spiritual potential of participants through physical practice, meditation and breathing.
This includes a variety of postures, grouped under the term "asanas." These postures all aim to strengthen and balance the body, but they also improve flexibility and develop body awareness. Breathing exercises, or "pranayama," serve to calm the mind. Conscious breathing helps regulate the nervous system and increase vitality.
As in several branches of Hindu philosophy, meditation techniques are essential components of yoga. Meditation has been shown to improve cognitive function, memory, and metabolic balance, among other benefits1]
Thus, the physical, breathing, and meditative practices employed during yoga exercises can allow practitioners to feel better in both mind and body. These effects can be considered similar to those felt after a quality sporting activity2]

The benefits of practicing yoga
Yoga, like sport, can indeed lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, and improve mood, quality of life, and psychological well-being while regulating sleep discheckouts. The postures adopted during yoga can also relieve back pain. They help relax tense muscles and correct poor posture by strengthening the practitioner's back muscles. This activity can therefore be a remedy for chronic back pain. [3]
CBD and its therapeutic effects
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a molecule naturally secreted by hemp and cannabis, which are one and the same plant. The only difference between the two lies in their THC content. Cannabis has a THC level above 0.3%, while hemp contains less than 0.3% THC. Hemp is legal, but cannabis is not, because THC is responsible for addictive and other harmful effects. Hemp, which contains mostly CBD and very little THC, does not produce any psychotropic effects or addiction, whether in flower, resin, or other forms.
However, CBD acts on the central nervous system. Its interactions with certain receptors in the endocannabinoid system regulate various bodily functions. These interactions are still poorly defined and understood; nevertheless, some studies suggest that CBD may have several beneficial effects on health, such as reducing stress, anxiety , and mood and sleep discheckouts.
In doing so, it can help prevent or alleviate depression, obsessive-compulsive discheckout, panic discheckout, or post-traumatic stress discheckout, all of which are linked to stress and anxiety.
CBD and yoga: similar effects
As you may have gathered, the results of consuming CBD and practicing yoga can complement, or even reinforce, each other. Together, they can improve your health, well-being, and quality of life.
Both have been practiced since time immemorial and are renowned for:
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Improve cognitive abilities and aid concentration
- Promoting sleep onset and improving sleep quality
- Relieving chronic and temporary pain (lower back pain, rheumatism, etc.)
Both therefore point in the same direction, and given that we are not talking about mathematics, there is no reason why the accumulation of relaxing practices should result in less relaxation!
In the absence of danger, why not try?
As we have seen, the practice of yoga and the consumption of CBD share many similarities. The last of these is the absence of danger.
Indeed, while the therapeutic effects of both practices remain debated, it is generally accepted that they pose no health risks. Of course, there are some contraindications: you should not consume CBD during pregnancy, just as you should not practice yoga if you have a sprained ankle.
