CBD rum cocktail

Discover our CBD flowers

Ingredients:

- 1 l rum

- 15 g CBD flowers

- 3 tablespoons honey or 3 tablespoons cane sugar syrup

- 2 teaspoons ginger

- 1 lime

- 1 vanilla pod

Preparation steps :

  1. Grind the flowers with a grinder.
  2. Pour the crushed flowers into the bottle containing the rum.
  3. Grate the ginger, split the vanilla pod in half and squeeze the lemon. Add to the rum.
  4. Add the honey or cane sugar syrup to the bottle.
  5. Leave the bottle to macerate in a cool, dark place for 3 to 4 days.
  6. Once this period has elapsed, bring water to the boil in a saucepan.
  7. As soon as the water boils, turn off the heat and carefully place the bottle of rum in it.
  8. Keep the bottle open and make sure that the water level does not exceed that of the bottle.
  9. Return to low heat and leave the drink to infuse for 30 minutes. This step decarboxylates the CBD and infuses the ingredients perfectly into the alcohol.
  10. After the required 30 minutes, turn off the heat and allow the drink to cool.
  11. Using a sieve (or a chinois), filter out any remaining herb to ensure a residue-free rum. You can leave the split vanilla pod in the bottle to enhance its presentation.
  12. Keep the bottle in a cool, dark and dry place for at least 3 weeks.

Your CBD blended rum is ready, now all you have to do is enjoy it! It's important to know that the length of maceration considerably intensifies the flavor and effect of your rhum arrangé. While a few weeks may be enough to give the drink flavor, several months' rest will exacerbate the results. It's the same principle as the curing period for drying and maturing cannabis flowers. By choosing different cbd flowers, you can also vary the taste and effects.

Recipe variations

The recipe for CBD rum is not exhaustive and lends itself to infinite variations. If you'd like to opt for a simple flavor, it's entirely possible to concoct a recipe composed solely of rum and CBD flowers. In this case, only a drizzle of honey or sugarcane syrup is used to sweeten the taste of the beverage. On the contrary, you can choose to spice up the drink's flavor by adding a spoonful of chili purée. This ingredient perfectly balances the bitterness of the alcohol and adds a pleasant sensation of heat. Lime can also be replaced by combava. This variety of citrus lends a more pronounced taste and smell to the drink.

What type of rum should I use?

White, amber, agricultural or black rum... there are countless options. There are no restrictions in this recipe: the rum you use depends on your personal preferences. This choice will also affect the taste of your rhum arrangé. If you want to enjoy the full taste of CBD, white rum is the best option, as it has a neutral taste. You can also use an already-flavored rum to accompany CBD flowers. In this case, the CBD will mainly serve to accentuate the effect of the drink.

What does decarboxylation involve?

Decarboxylation is a method of activating cannabinoids. This enables them to be assimilated by the body and act on the endocannabinoid system.

By decarboxylating the CBD used, you release the powerful substances of this ingredient and thereby increase the spiciness of the arranged rum. This process is recommended if you want to experience the effects of CBD more intensely, but if not, this step is not mandatory. In this case, simply add the ingredients to the bottle of rum and leave the drink to macerate for a few weeks, or even months. The quantity of CBD flowers used is also an important factor in the effect provided by the arranged rum. For a mild effect, use 5 g of CBD per liter. For a strong effect, 10 to 15 g are needed. For a stronger effect, use up to 20 or even 25 g per liter.
