Brand new: CBNO (Cannabinol acetate)

cbn-o (Cannabinol Acetate-O) fluorine

Progress never stops, and in the world of CBD, innovation never stops. After HHC, HHCPO, THCPO, here comes CBNO.

As you may have guessed, CBN-O, or cannabinol acetate-O for short, is the acetylated version of CBN. And as always, on a molecular level, this version differs little from its base version, CBN, but enough to induce a whole host of new effects! Stay put, we're telling you all you need to know about this new cannabinoid!

CBN and CBNO

Let's start with a reminder about CBN. It's a natural cannabinoid, but it's a bit special. It's not synthesized during plant growth like CBD, THC and all the other cannabinoids. No, in fact, it's the result of THC oxidation. THC is not the most stable of substances, and can be damaged by heat and UV rays. When the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) molecule is exposed to light, it oxidizes and loses its hydrogen atoms. It simply becomes a cannabinol (CBN) molecule.

As with CBD, there's an artificially hydrogenated version of CBN, H3CBN or tetrahydrocannabinol. This is a CBN molecule with three hydrogen atoms. On paper, it differs from THC by just one hydrogen molecule, but as you know, it's a small difference that means a lot!

CBNO is an acetylated version of CBN. Just as HHCPO is the acetylated version of HHC and THCPO of THCP.

What this means is that an acetyl group has been added to the CBN molecule. It's a process little-known to the general public, yet everyone has had to deal with a molecule that has undergone this transformation, since it's the basis of paracetamol and aspirin.

Effect of CBNO, difference with CBN

Many consumers believe that CBN has effects quite identical to CBD. It is used for its sedative and soothing properties. Like CBD, it may help people fall asleep. It has no psychotropic or "high" effects.

In this respect, CBNO seems quite different from its natural version. Like hhcpo, it seems to induce powerful psychotropic effects. Some also claim that it has a greater relaxing effect than CBN, making it even more effective in helping people fall asleep.

Like other cannabinoids, CBNO acts on the human endocannabinoid system. This has repercussions on stress and pain management, hunger, and the body's response to inflammation. It could have beneficial effects on one or more of these aspects. But no studies on this subject seem to have been carried out, so we'll have to wait a while before we know the real effects of this molecule.

Buying CBNO online, be careful what you order!

If you can deduce a number of the molecule's characteristics from its name, finding products containing CBNO at online retailers is proving more difficult than expected. In fact, we told you about this when we reported on the dubious practices of HHCPO, THCP and its little nickname Delta-p: unscrupulous retailers often play around with the idea of selling their product regardless of what's inside.

In the course of our research for this article, we came across sites that translated CBN-O as C4B (Cannabinoids for Boost), based on other sites that never mentioned CBN-O at all. We've also come across sites which advertise a CBN-O product, but then claim in the product's specifications that it contains high levels of HHC and no trace of CBNO... Or, less seriously, products with the title CBNO isolate, but whose product description only mentions CBN.

We won't name the sites in question, but we urge you to be extremely vigilant when buying such products online: read the descriptions carefully and check that your retailer is trustworthy.

Remember that in the case of synthetic and semi-synthetic molecules, no positive or negative effect on humans has been proven with certainty. If a site certifies an improvement in health, a beneficial effect on arthritis, stress or, even more seriously, cancer, it is outside the bounds of the law and liable to prosecution .

Warning

Acetylated molecules are synthetic cannabinoids. Their legal status has yet to be decided, but today they are legal because they are not banned. Please use these products in moderation. In addition, some studies seem to show that vaporizing acetylated compounds could present certain risks of lung damage. It is therefore advisable to consume these molecules, like all synthetic and semi-synthetic molecules, by infusion.

We told you all about THCH last week, but here's another new discovery in the vast world of cannabinoids: tetrahydrocannabutol or THCB. Like all cannabinoids, it is responsible for interactions with the endocannabinoid system which, according to preliminary studies, could lead to a series of potential therapeutic benefits.
