What is H3CBN
H3CBN is a molecule
naturally occurring semi-synthetic in cannabis flowers. Schematically, it's a CBN molecule to which three hydrogen atoms have been added. As with
THCP or the
THCVIt is naturally secreted, but in quantities too small to have any real effect. So the H3CBN in our flowers and resins is synthesized in the laboratory.
Hydrogenating CBN radically changes its action. As you may know, CBN is derived from the oxidation of THC. This molecule is found in aged or sun-dried cannabis flowers. It is renowned for its rather mild sedative effects, which bring it closer to CBD.
Its hydrogenated form is not at all the same. Like hhcpo, it was developed as a replacement for HHC, and has the following properties
psychoactive and psychotropic effects.
The effects of H3CBN
H3CBN has been noted for its effects, which are different from other cannabinoids and other
CBD derivatives. Where most of these molecules tend to have a relaxing action, with or without a psychoactive effect. H3 CBN, on the other hand, is said to provoke a
sensation of awakening accompanied by an increase in energy, which translates into an astonishing improvement in concentration and mental clarity.
H3CBN also produces a psychoactivity similar to that of
HHCPO and
THCPOwhich produces a sensation of euphoria and sensory modification.
But despite its energizing effects, one of the few studies conducted
1 suggests that H3CBN also has the ability to
promote deep, restorative sleep while regulating sleep disorders.
The beginnings of a medical interest
H3CBN has been of great interest to the medical research community as a treatment for stress and depression. Like all cannabinoids, H3CBN influences the endocannabinoid system, which in turn influences anxiety levels.
With its mood-boosting, energy-enhancing and motivational effects, H3 CBN seems the perfect cannabinoid for the job. Nevertheless, the research, while promising, is still in its infancy. As yet, no human studies have been carried out on H3CBN.
We'll have to be patient before discovering whether this potential can be realized, and whether it is not accompanied by deleterious effects.
A legal alternative to HHC
