Like the other cannabinoids in its category, it is as yet little studied, and as far as its effects are concerned, we'll tell you all about them, but it's up to you to make up your own mind!
An intriguing structure
A very recent arrival on the French market
is rapidly gaining notoriety thanks to its molecular structure.
Indeed, like THC-B and
THC-P It's part of the THC family. But within the family, they're all different: THC-b has a side chain of 6 carbons, THC-p has 7 and THCJD is the elder of the two, with 8.
What's the difference? Well, this carbon chain offers the molecule the possibility of a stronger bond with the endoreceptors present in our body. It's this interaction that produces the effects of cannabinoids.
In concrete terms, this would mean that THC-JD would be able to
produce more effects on the endocannabinoid system than THCP, which itself produces more endocannabinoids than THCB.
Effect of THC-JD
According to preliminary studies conducted by Dr Erik Paulson of the San Diego-based InfiniteCAL laboratory, the extra carbon present in the THC-JD molecule enables it to interact approximately 10X more strongly with CB1 and CB2 receptors than THC-P.
However, as you know, this interaction doesn't necessarily translate into psychoactivity or sensory modification. CBD also produces an interaction, but it's hardly felt.
As for THCJD, as it is related to THC-p, it seems to provoke a feeling of "high".
temporary euphoriaand a
slight perceptual distortion. It could also
accentuate the sensation of appeasement and hunger.
But like THC-P and THC-B, although THCJD is a member of the THC family, it doesn't have the same effects as cannabis.
As you know, the interaction between cannabinoids, also known as the entourage effect, is far more powerful than the action of cannabinoids alone.
Our THCP and THCJD flowers and resins are carefully controlled for cannabinoid concentration. Some flower and resin varieties also contain CBD, but do not contain the concentrations of cannabinoids found in cannabis.
The effect is therefore totally different.
What is THCJD
The history of THC-JD, or tetrahydrocannabioctyl, is still hazy.
It was discovered in 2020.
Unlike
HHCPO or the
H3CBN THC-JD is a cannabinoid
naturally present in hemp. It is found in most varieties, but its concentration is very low. Probably around 0.01%, which explains why it was discovered so late.
How to obtain tetrahydrocannabioctyl
Because of this very low concentration, it is very difficult to isolate the molecule and reproduce it on a large scale using today's resources.
To ensure that the molecule is present at higher levels in our flowers and resins, our laboratories resort to synthesizing it.
This involves taking a CBD molecule and reacting it with various chemical processes to change the molecular structure of the cannabinoid. These processes enable us to transform CBD into CBD-JD, which becomes THC-JD.
The THC-JD molecule, which already exists in its natural state and which you'll find in our products, is classified as
semi-synthetic.
Legality of THC-JD
As with other CBD-derived cannabinoids, the legal status of THC-jd is not explicitly regulated.
Most European countries, including France, have not come out in favor or against its prohibition. In view of the legislation in force concerning new molecules, it is
authorized for sale and therefore legal as long as it contains less than 0.3% THC, until a harmful effect on health is proven.
THC-JD is authorized in most European countries. However, it is banned in some countries, such as Ireland, Poland, Finland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Norway and Switzerland.
