Here is the latest addition to our range of CBD derivatives, THC-JD . Already widely known, and even famous in some European countries, such as the Netherlands, it is just emerging on the French market.
Like the other cannabinoids in its category, it has not yet been extensively studied, and as far as its effects are concerned, we'll tell you all about them, but it's up to you to make up your own mind!
An intriguing structure
Very recent on the French market, it is rapidly gaining notoriety thanks to its molecular structure.
Indeed, like THC-B and THC-P , it belongs to the THC family. But within the family, they are all different: THC-b has a side chain composed of 6 carbons, THC-p has 7, and THCJD is somewhat like the older of the other two since it has 8.
What difference does it make? Well, this carbon chain allows the molecule to bind more strongly to the endorphins in our bodies. It's this interaction that produces the effects of cannabinoids.
In concrete terms, this would mean that THC-JD would be able to produce more effects on the endocannabinoid system than THCP, which itself produces more than THCB.
Effect of THC-JD
According to some preliminary studies that were reportedly conducted by Dr. Erik Paulson of the InfiniteCAL laboratory based in San Diego, the additional carbon present on the THC-JD molecule would allow it to interact approximately 10X stronger with CB1 and CB2 receptors than THC-P.
However, as you know, this interaction does not necessarily translate into psychoactivity, or sensory modification; CBD also produces an interaction, but it is barely felt.
As for THCJD, being related to THC-p, it appears to cause a feeling of transient euphoria and a slight distortion of perception . It may also accentuate feelings of calmness and hunger .
But just like THC-P and THC-B, although THCJD is in the THC family, it does not produce the same effects as cannabis at all.
As you know, the interaction between cannabinoids, also called the entourage effect, is much more powerful than the action of cannabinoids alone.
Our THCP and THCJD flowers and resins undergo precise cannabinoid concentration control. Some varieties of flowers and resins also contain CBD, but not at the cannabinoid concentrations found in cannabis, so their effect is completely different .
What is THCJD
The history of THC-JD, or tetrahydrocannabioctyl, is still hazy.
It was reportedly discovered in 2020.
Unlike HHCPO or H3CBN , THC-JD is a cannabinoid naturally present in hemp . It is found in most varieties, but at a very low concentration, probably around 0.01%, which explains why its discovery was so late.
How to obtain tetrahydrocannabioctyl
Because of this very low concentration, it is very difficult to isolate the molecule in order to reproduce it on a large scale with current means.
In order for the molecule to be present at higher levels in our flowers and resins, our laboratories resort to synthesis.
The process involves starting with a CBD molecule and reacting it using various chemical processes to change the molecular structure of the cannabinoid. These processes allow us to transform CBD into CBD-JD, which will then become THC-JD.
The molecule already exists in nature, the THC-JD that you will find in our products and is classified as semi-synthetic .
Legality of THC-JD
As with other cannabinoids derived from CBD, alternative cannabinoids, the legal status of THC-jd is not explicitly regulated.
Most European countries, including France, have not taken a position for or against its ban. Due to current legislation regarding new molecules, it is authorized for sale and therefore legal as long as it contains less than 0.3% THC, until a harmful effect on health is proven.
THC-JD is legal in most European countries. However, it is prohibited in some countries such as Ireland, Poland, Finland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Norway, and Switzerland.
