H4CBD
CBDOO presents H4CBD.
This form of semi-synthetic cannabidiol has been particularly appreciated for its potency and pronounced calming effects.
What exactly is H4CBD? What's its history? And how is it conceived? Follow us as CBDOO explains it all!
First of all, what is H4CBD?
Like H3CBN and HHCPO, H4CBD is a synthetically produced molecule. In simple terms, it is a CBD molecule to which four hydrogen atoms have been added, hence its name and its status as a semi-synthetic CBD derivative . This is because the CBD molecule itself is natural, but the addition of hydrogen is synthetic.
A little culture: the discovery of hydrogenated cannabidiol
The discovery of hydrogenated CBD dates back to the 1940s. It closely followed the discovery of CBD itself. Its first synthesis is attributed to the Anglo-American research group known as Todd, whose research focused on cannabinoids, their composition, their effects, and their potential applications in medicine.
After them, their research remained undeveloped until 2006, when H4CBD attracted the interest of a new group of American researchers: the American Chemical Society. Based on their discoveries, H4CBD became legal in the United States before being exported to France.
Hydrogenated CBD? What's the difference?
At first glance, H4CBD doesn't differ from regular CBD; it has the same appearance, smell, and flavor. According to the findings of the American Chemical Society group, the main difference between CBD and its hydrogenated form is the stimulation of endocannabinoid receptors.
While CBD only stimulates B2 receptors, H4CBD also appears to stimulate B1 receptors. These are the same receptors that THC acts on.
By stimulating more receptors, H4CBD produces more powerful relaxation effects than classic CBD , but this does not necessarily mean that it is similar to cannabis.
A molecule 100 times more powerful... Not quite!
You can read everywhere that this molecule is supposedly 100 times more potent than regular CBD. In fact, this is a simplification taken from a study by the American Chemical Society. What the study says is that the molecule can interact up to 100 times more with CB1 receptors (which, incidentally, isn't so crazy, considering that regular CBD barely binds to them!), and that doesn't necessarily mean the effect is 100 times stronger!
To be honest, research on the subject is quite limited at the moment. And if we rely on consumer reviews, H4CBD does indeed produce more pronounced effects. Its greater affinity with endorphins seems to be able to provide stronger relaxing and anti-stress effects than regular CBD, but it doesn't produce any "high."
How is Hash or Fleur de H4CBD made?
As mentioned, the H4CBD molecule is synthesized in a laboratory. It is then added to hemp flowers and incorporated into the hash. Want to know how it works?
Well, it's quite simple. Once the molecule is synthesized, it's incorporated into a more or less volatile solution, such as water or bioethanol. Then the flowers or pollen are infused in the solution, and we wait for the water or bioethanol to evaporate completely. At the end of the process, all that remains is our flower or pollen and its H4CBD.
Production ends there for the flowers, but for the resin, the normal creation process resumes. The pollen is taken and pressed, either hot or cold, depending on the desired method, to obtain the desired type of resin.
The advantage of this process is that we have perfect control over the dosage of H4CBD we want to obtain in our flowers or resins!
Is H4CBD safe?
The hydrogenation of a molecule is a process that is over a century old. It has been declared safe by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and is commonly used in the food industry, particularly with oils. Hydrogenated oils are the basis of vegetable margarine and are ingredients in many products such as cookies, pastries, ice cream, and spreads.
So, at first glance, since CBD is completely harmless and the process is safe, H4CBD appears safe for users.
However, it requires the use of certain solvents and other chemical compounds that must be removed at the end of the synthesis. Therefore, it is advisable to obtain it only from trusted suppliers.
H4CBD and legality
Like many CBD derivatives ( HHCPO , THCV , Delta-p ...), H4CBD is no longer legal from June 3, 2024. It is therefore forbidden to sell, buy or possess it.
A few precautions
Since H4CBD is more potent than traditional CBD, it is intended for experienced consumers; if this is not your case, it is preferable to start by consuming a small amount before increasing it.
Although rare and temporary, some side effects such as drowsiness, dry mouth, or decreased appetite may occur, particularly with overuse or incorrect dosage. If you are taking other medication, consult your doctor.
