One of the best-documented versions is said to have originated from the selection of a particular phenotype of Unicorn Butter, itself the result of numerous crosses involving Garlic Butter and Buddha's Hand. This Skunk Butter was supposedly chosen for its distinctive and striking aromas: a particularly pronounced buttery and cheesy scent, combined with an unusually high resin content.
On the other hand, Lemon Kush has never had a single, documented origin. Several teams of breeders, working independently throughout the 2000s, converged on the same idea: to combine the earthy, resinous base of an Afghan Kush with the lemony vibrancy of a more sativa-dominant variety. The most frequently cited result remains a cross between Afghani and Master Kush, which gives Lemon Kush its deep aroma crowned with lemony notes.
