THC-B, an exciting new cannabinoid

THC-B is a cannabinoid naturally present in certain varieties of hemp. It was discovered in 2019, at the same time as THCP, in the same laboratory, in Italy and on the same variety, FM2.

THCP and THCB share many characteristics. Both have been found in trace amounts, are present in minute quantities (less than 0.1%) and have almost the same molecular structure. The only difference is the number of carbon atoms in their side chains. THCP has 7 carbon atoms, while THC-B has 6.

The number of atoms plays a major role in the way the molecule interacts with the body. A lower atomic number suggests that THC-b would have a gentler, slower action than THC-p.

But we need to take a step back from this assumption. Depending on the variety, the way it's grown, the terpenes and other cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN...) used in its composition, the potency of the molecule can vary greatly.
