Brand new: introducing CBNO (Cannabinol Acetate)

As you've probably guessed, CBN-O, or cannabinol-O acetate, is the acetylated version of CBN. And as always, at the molecular level, this version differs very little from its base form, CBN, but enough to induce a whole host of new effects! CBN and CBNO

Let's start with a quick reminder about CBN. It's a natural cannabinoid, but it's a bit different. It isn't synthesized during the plant's growth like CBD, THC, and all the other cannabinoids. No, in fact, it's the result of THC oxidation. Indeed, THC isn't very stable; it can be damaged by heat and UV light. When the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) molecule is exposed to light, it oxidizes and loses its hydrogen atoms. It simply becomes a cannabinol (CBN) molecule.

 

As with CBD, there is an artificially hydrogenated version of CBN, H3CBN or tetrahydrocannabinol. It's a CBN molecule with three hydrogen atoms. On paper, it differs from THC by only one hydrogen molecule, but as you know, that small difference makes a big difference!

 

CBNO is an acetylated version of CBN. Similarly, HHCPO is the acetylated version of HHC and THCPO of THCP.

 

What this means is that an acetyl group has been added to the CBN molecule. This process is relatively unknown to the general public, yet everyone has already encountered a molecule that has undergone this transformation, since it forms the basis of the composition of paracetamol and aspirin.

 

 

Effect of CBNO, difference with CBN

Many consumers attribute effects to CBN that are quite similar to those of CBD. It is used for its sedative and calming properties. Like CBD, it may promote sleep. It does not produce any psychotropic effects or a "high.".

 

In this respect, CBNO seems quite different from its natural counterpart. Like hcpo, it appears to induce powerful psychotropic effects. Some also attribute to it a greater relaxing effect than CBN, further enhancing its sleep-inducing properties.

 

Like other cannabinoids, CBNO acts on the human endocannabinoid system. This has repercussions on stress and pain management, hunger pangs, and the body's response to inflammation. It could have beneficial effects on one or more of these aspects. However, no studies on this subject appear to have been conducted, so it will be some time before we know the true effects of this molecule.

 

 

Buying CBNOs online, be careful what you checkout!

While its name might suggest certain characteristics of the molecule, finding products containing CBNO from online retailers proves more difficult than expected. Indeed, we mentioned this when discussing the dubious practices surrounding HHCPO, THCP, and its nickname Delta-p: unscrupulous resellers often try to obscure the truth in checkout to sell their product regardless of its actual contents.

 

Thus, during our research for this article, we found some websites translating CBN-O as C4B (Cannabinoids for Boost), relying on other sites that never mention CBN-O. We also found others that advertise a product containing CBN-O before stating in the product's specifications a high HHC content and no trace of CBNO… Or, less seriously, products labeled as CBNO isolate whose product description only mentions CBN.

 

We will not name the sites in question, but urge you to exercise the utmost vigilance when buying such products online: read the descriptions carefully and check that your reseller is trustworthy.

 

Remember that in the case of synthetic and semi-synthetic molecules, no positive or negative effects on humans have been definitively proven. If a website claims to improve health, have a beneficial effect on arthritis, stress, or even, more seriously, on cancer, it is breaking the law and is liable to prosecution.
