CBD shop CBDOO. What is 10 OH HHC: effects and comparisons
The 10 OH HHC, also
called 10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabinol is not really a cannabinoid like CBD or CBDP. It's a metabolite, i.e. an organic compound derived from metabolism, like glucose, for example. This new cannabinoid is therefore
one of the results (among others) of HHC oxidation by P450 enzymes in the liver. As you probably know, HHC is a form of hydrogenated THC. Only two hydrogen atoms differentiate one from the other, as between CBD and H2CBD. When a person consumes HHC, their body breaks it down into several metabolites, including 10-OH-HHC, which will travel through the bloodstream and produce its own effects as a result of HHC consumption.
10-OH-HHC: powerful effects
With its unique molecular structure, this HHC derivative seems to provide very specific effects which may approach those experienced after HHC consumption. According to the few scientific experiments on the subject and the few customer reviews we have, 10-OH-HHC is said to cause :
- A mild, short-term psychoactive effect.
- A strong sense of euphoria
- Intense mental and physical relaxation.
These characteristics make this cannabinoid
an attractive alternative to HHC for users looking for a powerful cannabinoid with soothing, balanced effects.
Comparison with other cannabinoids
All cannabinoid effects are relative, and there are so many of them that it's sometimes difficult to get a clear idea of what the effects of this alternative molecule might be. Sometimes comparison with other cannabinoids is the easiest way to appreciate the effects of a molecule.
10 OH HHC vs CBD
The two molecules are very different in terms of their molecular structure and effects. CBD has proven effects on physical and bodily relaxation. 10-OH-HHC also has effects in these areas, but their involvement has not been scientifically established. On the other hand, unlike CBD,
10-OH-HHC has psychoactive and euphoric effectswhich makes it interesting in a recreational context.
10 OH HHC vs THCP
Designed to replace HHC, THCP was for a time the most potent cannabinoid on the market. After the June 2024 ban,
THCP has given way to 10-OH-HHCHowever, it is slightly less psychoactive, but just as popular with consumers.
10 OH HHC vs HHC
HHC was the first derivative to seduce CBD consumers, after its ban it was replaced by THCP, which in turn has
has been replaced by 10-OH-HHC. Like its predecessors, 10-OH-HHC combines psychoactive potency with physical and mental relaxation.
10 OH HHC vs H4CBD
H4CBD is a bodybuilt version of CBDwith more powerful but similar effects. 10-OH-HHC is distinguished by its euphoric and psychoactive effects, which, depending on the product, can be more or less moderate or powerful.
CBDOO products based on 10-oh-hhc
After the last ban, we criss-crossed Europe and multiplied supplier catalogs to find worthy replacements. But we didn't just grab the first product that came along.
MCPN,
THM ,10 oh HHC...We tested more than thirty CBD-derived products before finding those of sufficiently high quality to be included in our online CBD store.
Promising medical applications?
Although it is not strictly speaking a cannabinoid, the
10-oh-hhc is capable of interacting with CB1 and CB2 receptors endocannabinoid system. Thanks to this influence on the endocannabinoid system, this HHC derivative could impact several bodily functions. This would give it interesting properties and potential therapeutic effects, such as :
- Anti-inflammatory effect: It could reduce inflammation, which could be useful for chronic pain or inflammatory conditions.
- Analgesic action: Like CBD, 10-OH-HHC may provide pain relief by acting on associated receptors.
- Anxiolytic potential: interactions with CB1 and CB2 receptors often result in the alleviation of stress and anxiety, promoting a feeling of calm.
- Antiemetic property: Some preliminary studies have suggested that this HHC-derived metabolite could be effective against nausea and vomiting, particularly in cases of digestive disorders.
However, despite these encouraging prospects, scientific studies on 10-OH-HHC are still limited. Current evidence comes mainly from preliminary observations. Further research is therefore needed to confirm or refute these potential effects and assess their actual efficacy.
Is 10-OH-HHC legal in France?
If you've been following CBD news for a while, you know how it goes.
This HHC derivative is a new productIt is therefore not subject to any specific restrictions. This means that it is perfectly legal, provided it complies with current regulations, notably a THC level of less than 0.3% and the absence of any proven negative effects. At CBDOO, we guarantee that all
our 10-OH-HHC flowers and 10-OH-HHC resins comply with these strict standards. Each batch is rigorously tested by at least one independent laboratory, which certifies that the THC content complies with French and European regulations. The sale, possession and purchase of 10-OH-HHC are therefore totally legal in France and Europe.
History and discovery of hydroxy-hexahydrocannabinol (10-oh-hhc)
Hydroxy-hexahydrocannabinol, or 10 oh hhc, was discovered over 40 years ago, in the early 1980s. The discovery was made by the renowned Professor Raphaël Mechoulam and his team at the Israel Institute for Biological Research. Often dubbed the "father of modern cannabinoids", Mechoulam is especially famous for his work in isolating THC in 1964, as well as for much of our knowledge of natural and synthetic cannabinoids. During this discovery, the biologist and his team observed that the compound
was capable of producing psychoactive effects at relatively low doses. These effects were attributed to its ability to interact with the endocannabinoid system, although the exact mechanisms were still unclear at the time. For several decades, little attention was paid to 10-OH-HHC, mainly due to the scientific infatuation with the better-known cannabinoids, such as THC or CBD. It wasn't until 2015 that researchers at the University of Mississippi, led by Professor A. Ahmed, succeeded in completely isolating this molecule. This work has led to a better understanding of its chemical and biological properties, rekindling interest in its therapeutic and recreational potential. Since then, although
studies remain limited, 10-OH-HHC is attracting growing interest in the medical and recreational fields, notably for its moderate effects and potential properties, such as relaxation, inflammation reduction and pain relief. Its status as a
semi-synthetic cbd derivativeobtained by oxidation of HHC, also makes it an intriguing compound for researchers looking for new cannabinoid applications.

Avoid overconsumption to avoid danger
As we've said, 10 oh HHC is a brand new compound, and we still know very little about it and its long-term effects, apart from the fact that it's capable of interacting with the
endocannabinoid system and can produce a psychoactive effect. Although it looks safe and some say it is, because it's a compound the body creates on its own when HHC is consumed, it could cause adverse effects similar to HHC. We would also like to remind you that 10-OH HHC is not a drug. And for your mental and physical well-being, we advise you to exercise caution when consuming it, and to avoid over-consumption.
