What is THCP?

THCP, or tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is sometimes also known as Delta-p CBD. It's a cannabinoid naturally present in weed and hemp plants.

In its natural state, its content barely exceeds 0.01%. To bring the concentration in our flowers up to 10%, we had to synthesize the molecule in the laboratory. It is therefore a semi-synthetic cannabinoid derived from CBD.

Its discovery is relatively recent. This cannabinoid and its twin CBDP were discovered in 2019 by a group of Italian researchers from the University of Modena. Since then, this compound has enjoyed growing success thanks to its psychoactive effects, which make it a good replacement for HHC.

THC-P: singular effects

Like other cannabinoids, THCP interacts with the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system. It is capable of producing psychoactive and psychotropic effects . What's more, at the time of its discovery, researchers ¹ suggested that THC P might interact with the endocannabinoid system 33 times more than THC . This would give it far stronger and longer-lasting effects than THC.

As far as the effects themselves are concerned, THCP may well have a soaring effect, a kind of high that is accompanied by a rush of euphoria and great physical relaxation.

It's because 4:20 a.m. is International Consumption Time, and April 20 (the 20th day of the 4th month of the year) is International Cannabis Day.

But why? Several theories have been put forward to explain the origin of this tradition. The most widespread theory is that it dates back to 1971 and originated in San Rafael, California. The story goes that a certain group of young people known as "Waldos" used to get together at 4:20 a.m. to smoke. For them, this hour was a moment of freedom between the end of the school day and their parents' return from work. They would then use the number "420" as a code for cannabis consumption.
This code spread throughout the city, and was later made famous by fans of the San Francisco-based Grateful Dead, one of whose members knew the Waldos people.

Another theory is that this code comes from one of the short stories by the master of horror: H. P. Lovecraft. In a story entitled Dans les murs d'Eryx (In the Walls of Eryx ), published in 1936, the author describes a "mirage plant" reminiscent of cannabis, the effects of which end at 4.20 a.m. However, there are few links between the horrific and cannabis cultures, so this thesis doesn't seem to be all that convincing.
